The War Against Terrorism and President George W. Bush

Why are so many people upset with President Bush and his decision to go to war in Afghanistan and Iraq? Before posting your opinions, here is a timeline of events that led up to President Bush's decision to go to war.

1993: World Trade Center Bombings on February 26th.

1993: Assasination attempt planned on U.S. former President George Bush Sr.

1993: Clinton administration decided to send 23 cruise missiles into Iraq on June 27th in response to the planned assisination attempt.

1996: The Taliban, a radical Islamic movement, takes control of Afghanistan.

1998: The 1998 U.S. embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania occur.

2000: USS Cole Navy ship attacked by suicide bombers on October 12th. President Bill Clinton declared, "If, as it now appears, this was an act of terrorism, it was a despicable and cowardly act. We will find out who was responsible and hold them accountable".

2000: al-Qaeda Summit in Malaysia, pilots head to the United States and train in flying schools.

2001: Over 3,000 people died in World Trade Center and Pentagon on September 11th.

2001: President George W. Bush announces to the world "You're either with us or against us in the fight against terror."

2001: United States goes to war with Afghanistan on October 7th.

2003: United States goes to war with Iraq. Reason was upwards of 200,000 Iraqi people died under Saddam Hussein's rule using weapons of mass destruction. Other than Saddam Hussein, no weapons of mass destruction have been found.

Isn't it fair to say that if President Bush hadn't addressed these problems, a future U.S. President would have to?
